Asbestos Investigator
Actalent is seeking an Environmental Scientist to conduct asbestos investigations in New York City metro area buildings. The role involves field sampling, report writing, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
Conduct investigations and prepare comprehensive inspection reports.
Survey and sample suspect asbestos‑containing materials in NYC metro area buildings.
Submit bulk samples to laboratories for analysis.
Prepare detailed reports on each investigation, including ACP‑5 Forms if applicable.
Maintain accurate record‑keeping to comply with NYC DEP regulations.
Perform indoor and outdoor inspections requiring the ability to ascend and descend stairwells.
Utilize manual dexterity and coordination to manipulate field equipment and collect samples.
Handle paperwork and files efficiently.
Essential Skills
3+ years of experience in environmental science.
Proficiency in field work, environmental compliance, and report writing.
Hazwoper and hazmat certification.
Experience in asbestos inspection and air monitoring.
NYCDEP Investigator license.
NYSDOL Inspector license.
Expertise in site assessment, soil sampling, and environmental monitoring.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
OSHA certification is desirable.
Work Environment The role involves site investigations, report writing, project management, and occasional inspections across all five boroughs of New York City. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and requires manual dexterity, coordination, and the ability to travel extensively.
Job Type & Location Permanent position based in Long Island City, NY.
Pay and Benefits Pay range: $80,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year. Benefits include medical, vision, dental, and PTO.
Workplace Type Fully onsite in Long Island City, NY.
