Accounts Receivable Manager – Austin, TX

Who You Are As the Accounts Receivable Manager you will simplify, standardize, and automate the AR, deductions, and claims functions. You will manage credit evaluation, collections, and customer deductions, collaborating with Accounting, Finance, Sales, Supply Chain, and retail partners to improve AR performance, ROI, and reduce non‑trade charges.
Responsibilities
Serve as subject‑matter expert for AR, claims, and billing transactions.
Analyze, monitor, and improve all AR metrics—AR aging, DSO, DDO, credit balances, and bad debt expense.
Meet AR operational standards and contribute information to strategic plans and reviews.
Review and approve new customer set‑ups, ensuring required documentation and appropriate credit limits and terms are assigned.
Communicate with internal and external customers regarding credit/collection issues escalated by the AR team.
Negotiate payment plans and assist AR team with delinquent accounts, including credit holds and potential uncollectibility.
Manage customer deductions process, ensuring timely claim processing.
Lead periodic meetings with senior leadership to review past‑due invoices, collections concerns, risk, and deductions.
Generate and track monthly AFDA write‑off transactions and recommend reserves.
Oversee all cash activity, month‑end closing, and AR reconciliation functions, including open invoice listings, general ledgers, and unapplied cash reporting.
Oversee deduction application and dispute resolution to support the monthly financial close.
Maintain a close working relationship with sales to validate deductions and obtain approvals.
Coach, mentor, and develop the AR and deduction teams to ensure effective productivity and performance.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support internal and external audits.
Collaborate on special projects and issues as needed.
Develop and maintain user documentation for D365 and standard operational processes.
Conduct performance appraisals and provide suggestions for improvement.

What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field (preferred).
10+ years of accounts receivable/credit experience, including 3+ years of management.
Experience in consumer packaged goods or similar industry.
Understanding of credit and AR practices and experience working with major retailers (e.g., Walmart, Target, Amazon).
Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and negotiation skills.
Detail‑oriented, multitasking, deadline‑focused, and able to manage multiple projects.
Excellent communication skills.
Proficiency with ERP and high‑volume transactions (MS Dynamics preferred).
Experience with high‑radius cash application/deductions platform preferred.
Strong Excel skills and Microsoft Office proficiency.
