Job Summary The Coordinated Science Laboratory is seeking an Academic Hourly employee to help support the functions of the Center for Networked Intelligent Components and Environments (C-NICE) Microprecision Laboratory. Perform research in the field of mechanical engineering, and conduct specialized research support for projects in the microprecision laboratory.

Duties & Responsibilities Research best materials, machines, and manufacturing processes capable of producing microprecision parts Perform dynamic analyses on machines to determine how best to modify the machine for desired manufacturing outcomes Design microprecision parts using appropriate materials, machines, and manufacturing processes Perform metrology on manufactured parts to ensure desired specifications of designs are met Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Sciences and Engineering, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications Higher degree and/or 2 years of experience in microprecision manufacturing research

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of manufacturing processes and how to test and validate microprecision parts

Appointment Information This is a 100% Academic Hourly position. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 11/14/2025. Salary range: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour. Final salary offered will be determined by candidate experience and qualifications. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available.
