Base Pay Range $16.00/hr - $17.50/hr
Responsibilities
Teach swimming lessons to all ages, instruct and monitor students.
Lifeguard during swim classes, pool parties, and public swim times, ensuring safety and quality of lessons.
Implement YMCA practices to maintain safety and program quality, assist in evaluating participants.
Make quick decisions and enforce rules and regulations assertively.
Maintain physical and mental readiness; communicate effectively with small and large groups.
Certifications
YMCA Swim Instructor or Water Safety Instructor (WSI) AND Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid or equivalent.
Must have both certifications completed by June 2023; Lifeguard & CPR classes available at Anaheim Family YMCA.
Schedule & Hours
Part time, Non‑exempt. Monday‑Friday: 9:30am‑7:30pm; Saturdays & Sundays: 9:30am‑5:00pm.
Seasonal/Summer months (April‑September).
Qualifications
Minimum age 16.
Recommended 1‑3 years of experience teaching swimming and/or lifeguarding.
Maintain physical and mental readiness; demonstrate water safety skills per YMCA standards.
Pass criminal background clearance, drug test, health screening, and TB test.
Additional Information
Wage: $16.00‑$17.50 per hour, depending on experience and certifications.
Referrals may double the chances of interview.
