Working Title: PUBLIC DEFENDER'S OFFICE, 19TH CIRCUIT- SECRETARY I - 21004324

We are looking for a Legal Secretary/Assistant to undertake a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. You will work under the supervision of a Support Staff Supervisor and will also provide support to other members of our Support Staff team. The goal is to sustain efficiency of all office procedures and case management to guarantee reliability and consistency.

Responsibilities

Effectively communicate with witnesses, clients, and colleagues

Assist in the preparation of various legal documents

Schedule court appearances and depositions

Maintain confidential case information

Preserve an updated case record system (STAC)

Answer phone calls, make appointments, and redirect calls when appropriate

Skills

Proven experience as a legal secretary is preferred but not required

Knowledge of legal terminology, regulations, and court system is a plus

Proficiency in English

Outstanding time-management and typing skills

Familiarity with Microsoft Office

Operates desktop computer, desktop scanner, and office copier

Ability to multitask and be comfortable dealing with a diverse pool of people
