Gastroenterology - Staff Physician Opportunity
This position has been opened to increase clinic availability at our outpatient locations to provide safe and effective medical care to Cincinnati Children’s patients. Following care guidelines and treatment protocols for infants, children, and adolescents to aid in their mental and physical growth and development. Participates in all department and division activities and initiatives while maintaining good standing.
Responsibilities
Patient Care: Perform direct patient care of pediatric patients within the scope of the medical license, education, and experience. Participate in safe, effective, and compassionate patient care, commensurate with your level of advancement and responsibility. Examine patients to determine the presence of disease and to establish preventive health practices. Determine the nature and extent of disease or injury, prescribe and administer medications and immunizations. Perform procedures, collect data, analyze data, and make decisions regarding patient care, including initial screening, assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, care, reassessment, and discontinuation of care. May formulate, maintain, support, monitor and modify a patient-specific plan for care, treatment and rehabilitation based on the patient's assessment. May also plan and coordinate care, treatment, and rehabilitation for discharged patients.
Effective Communication: Provide for the exchange of appropriate patient care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred, or discharged. Provide data that contributes to the assessment of a patient's needs and the organization's capability to provide care or treatment and the appropriate level of care.
Clinical Excellence: Actively participate in department/division and system learner training and educational programs. Maintain currency in field through continuing education, literature, and seminars.
Policy Compliance: Maintain good standing in the department by compliance to licensure and credentialing criteria. Comply with policies and procedures protecting patient rights for informed consent and the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children’s mission and applicable laws and regulations. Follow Cincinnati Children’s established code of ethical behavior in decisions and actions regarding marketing, admission, transfer, discharge, and billing. Review timeliness, accuracy, availability, and security of information.
Education/Experience Required:
MD/DO or equivalent pediatrician
Unrestricted licensed physician
Approval/credentialing from Cincinnati Children’s Medical Staff Services Division
Completion of applicable HR pre‑employment and new employment orientation tasks
Preferred:
Board certified or board eligible in pediatrics.

Clinical Care Skills : Skill in physical assessment, diagnosis, well‑childcare, and management of illness
Clinical Knowledge – Specialty : Professional knowledge and clinical ability sufficient to provide evaluation and treatment of complex patients in one or more specialty areas
Path/Pharm : Knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacology
Clinical Education : Knowledge and skill in patient and/or family education
Professional Knowledge/Ability : Professional knowledge and ability sufficient to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of the position
Communication : Excellent verbal, written and/or interpersonal communication skills
