The Program in Disability Studies and Women and Gender Studies at Georgetown University seeks a full‑time, non‑tenure‑line Assistant Teaching Professor specializing in Feminist Disability Studies. This 3‑year term position, renewable, begins August 2026.
Georgetown University, founded 1789, is a leading academic institution. The Women and Gender Studies Program was founded in 1981, graduating thousands of majors and minors. The Disability Studies Program was founded in 2017, graduating over 250 minors; the major was launched this year.
We seek an outstanding educator committed to innovative and inclusive pedagogy, fostering a rigorous yet supportive learning environment. Successful candidates will teach undergraduate courses—core courses such as Introduction to Disability Studies and Introduction to Women and Gender Studies—and provide mentorship and advising. We especially value candidates who utilize humanistic and/or social scientific methods and can teach courses in Feminist Disability Studies; Disability, Law & Activism; Crip/Queer Studies; Disability & Critical Race Theory.
Responsibilities
Teaching: deliver three undergraduate courses per semester (six courses annually).
Offer at least one core course each semester (e.g., Introduction to Disability Studies or Introduction to Women and Gender Studies).
Develop and teach elective courses based on scholarly expertise.
Provide student advising and mentorship, including support for program capstone projects.
Engage in service to both programs and contribute to the intellectual life of the College.
Qualifications A Ph.D. in disability studies, feminist studies/WGS, or a closely related field (or a JD) is required prior to appointment. Candidates must demonstrate strong promise of excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring, and a commitment to accessible pedagogies. Substantial teaching experience is especially encouraged.

$65,000–$75,000
