Supervising Deputy Public Administrator – Sheriff's Office (Finance)
The Riverside County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Supervising Deputy Public Administrator to fill a vacancy within the Coroner/Public Administrator Bureau in Perris.
As a Supervising Deputy Public Administrator, the incumbent will assign, supervise, and evaluate the work of staff engaged in probating deceased persons’ estates and perform the more difficult estate administration work. The incumbent is accountable for the overall compliance and timeliness of their subordinates’ caseload.
Responsibilities
Supervise probate administration, including selling property, liquidating assets, closing accounts, managing auctions, handling taxes, and ensuring proper distribution of estate funds.
Appear in court and provide testimony as needed.
Coordinate funeral, burial, or cremation arrangements.
Assist with evictions when necessary.
Communicate with families.
Oversee the financial assistance program for funeral services.
The Supervising Deputy Public Administrator will perform both office and fieldwork related to investigating and administering the estates of deceased persons. This position requires working around offensive sights and smells, in indoor/outdoor environments, and exposure to variable weather, insects, and/or rodents.
Qualifications
Experience supervising with probate laws, court procedures, and legal research using databases and online resources.
Previous service as a Public Administrator, Public Guardian, or Public Conservator is preferred.
Proficiency in Spanish preferred but not required.
Valid California Driver’s License.
Other Requirements License: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License is required.
Environmental Conditions: The role requires working around offensive sights and smells, in indoor/outdoor environments exposed to variable weather, insects, and/or rodents.
Interviews: Selected applicants will be required to attend in-person interviews.

Option III – Education: high school graduation or satisfactory G.E.D. score; Experience: three years managing estates and coordinating activities relative to guardianship or conservatorship.
Knowledge & Skills
Principles of supervision; Probate Code and other laws related to Public Administrator function.
Estate administration principles, practices and methods; estate and financial investigation methods including researching wills, real property, stocks, bonds, and bank accounts.
Ability to supervise and train others in estate investigation and probate procedures; investigate decedent’s assets; administer public administrator estate including paying taxes, creditors and other expenses; prepare clear, concise reports; establish and maintain effective relationships with employees and the public.
