Job Responsibilities
Review complex inpatient documentation to assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10 CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS
Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and federal regulations, utilizing EMR and Computer Assisted Coding software
Serve as a subject matter expert and collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement and Quality teams
Participate in payer audits and meetings, providing resources for coding-related audits
Maintain confidentiality of patient records and uphold ethical coding standards
Qualifications
Coding Certification from a recognized body such as AAPC or AHIMA
Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or a related field
Minimum of 7 years of experience in inpatient coding in an acute care facility
Advanced proficiency in ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines
Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with revenue cycle processes, Clinical Documentation Improvement, and health information workflows
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
Familiarity with electronic coding systems or applications
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
