Job Summary The Utah Sports Commission is looking for a motivated, creative, and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Marketing & Communications Coordinator. This role is designed to provide broad exposure across marketing, communications, and content creation. As a member of a small team, this position will be involved in supporting social media, creating content, assisting with campaigns, contributing to overall brand visibility, and assisting with planning and management of owned events and board meetings. This position is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing and communications while working for a well-known, community-based nonprofit organization.
Job Duties Social Media
Draft, schedule, and publish content across all platforms for both the Utah Sports Commission and Utah Championship accounts
Monitor engagement and provide regular performance reports
Support community management by responding to comments/comments and engaging with partner accounts
Use social media to monitor for relevant news and mentions, and share key updates with the marketing team
Provide onsite social coverage for Governor’s State of Sport Awards and Utah Championship, and other events as needed
Running the social media accounts may require additional work outside regular office hours, including evenings and weekends
Content Creation
Create or coordinate simple graphics, photos, and short-form videos for digital use
Curate news stories, write copy, and assist with layout and distribution of monthly newsletters, press releases and media advisories
Help maintain a consistent brand voice across all channels
Marketing Support
Assist with email campaigns
Contribute ideas for campaigns and support execution
Assist with website maintenance
Track marketing activities and compile results
Manage print production and distribution of marketing and collateral materials
Assist with special projects as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field
2‑3 years of professional experience with emphasis on marketing
Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills
Familiarity with social media platforms and basic analytics
Comfortable with design tools (Canva, Adobe Suite, or similar)
Knowledge of sports and Utah’s sports landscape a plus
Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and grow into the role
