Position Announcement
The School of Education at Utah Valley University invites applications for a full‑time tenure track faculty position as an elementary literacy/language arts specialist in the Elementary Education Department. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge of teacher education principles and practices as well as several years of relevant K‑12 teaching experience.
This individual will teach undergraduate courses in elementary literacy/language arts, including the Science of Reading and other related subjects aligned with their expertise, and should have demonstrated experience leading high‑performing Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) focused on elementary literacy/language arts. Successful applicants will be expected to obtain International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Certification within one year of hire if they are not already ISTE Certified, as part of our School of Education’s commitment to innovation and excellence in digital teaching and learning. The position will begin on August 1st, 2026.

Summary of Responsibilities
Teaches 24 credit hours for both Fall and Spring semesters.
Demonstrates flexibility in modalities and schedules that accommodate students’ schedules.
Maintains and submits accurate and current reports and records involving student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow‑up. Establishes and maintains office hours. Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
Maintains currency in fields of expertise, research, and pedagogy. Assists department chair, faculty, and staff in maintaining an effective program, including advisement and recruitment of students, curriculum development, program changes, etc. Serves on committees and attends meetings as assigned. Conducts oneself in a professional manner.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a doctoral degree in education or in a closely‑related field (or ABD with dissertation defense scheduled; degree must be in hand by position start date)
At least two years of relevant K‑12 learner‑centered teaching experience
Knowledge of the Science of Reading
Preferred Qualifications
At least two years of college/university teaching experience
Earned relevant professional license or credentials
Evidence of scholarly pursuits and potential
International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Certification
K‑12 leadership experience
Experience preparing preservice teachers for the Foundations of Reading Test
Experience teaching online courses in synchronous and/or asynchronous delivery modalities
Experience with early childhood education
