Job Overview:
Search Solution Group is seeking an
Automotive Manager
on behalf of our client, a leading railcar pooling company that provides a shared fleet of intermodal, automotive, and general-purpose railcars to North American railroads. This role plays a critical part in overseeing analytics, process improvement, and operational workflow within the automotive division. The Automotive Manager will lead initiatives related to data analysis, automation, and reporting, ensuring efficient railcar utilization and supporting strategic logistics decisions. Manage workflow across multiple operational queues related to railcar loads and utilization.
Partner closely with forecasting and outward projection teams to optimize fleet performance.
Serve as a key participant in committees and subcommittees, acting as the primary contact for one major subcommittee.
Lead data mining, reporting, and analysis initiatives to drive operational insights.
Oversee automation projects and process improvement efforts that enhance reporting and workflow efficiency.
Support data-driven decision-making by preparing reports, dashboards, and analytics for rail and logistics operations.
Collaborate cross-functionally to streamline communication between analytics, forecasting, and operations teams.
Requirements Include: Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Analytics, Supply Chain, or a related field required.
Experience: 3-5 years of professional experience in data analysis, logistics, or supply chain management.
Prior experience in the rail, automotive, or transportation industry strongly preferred.
Open to candidates without previous management experience who demonstrate leadership potential.
Skills: Advanced proficiency in
Microsoft Excel
(pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and automation tools).
Experience with analytics tools such as
Tableau
(current platform) and
Power BI
(migration in progress).
Strong knowledge of
SQL
and database management.
Ability to synthesize and communicate complex data to non-technical stakeholders.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with a strong attention to detail.
Certifications: None required; relevant certifications in analytics, project management, or supply chain are a plus.
Knowledge: Understanding of rail logistics, supply chain operations, or automotive transportation processes.
Familiarity with automation and data visualization tools used in operations and logistics reporting.
