Overview
VHB’s Watertown, MA office hosts a dynamic team of 20+ Water Resource professionals looking for an entry‑level Water Resources Engineer. The position supports projects in stormwater management and design, hydrology and hydraulics analysis, culvert and bridge design, and resiliency efforts, providing innovative, sustainable solutions for public and private clients.
Work Setting
The work would begin in spring/summer 2026 and will be conducted in a hybrid setting.
Responsibilities
- Develop site civil engineering plans and specifications for environmental, land development, transportation, and water resources projects.
- Conduct water resources studies and analyses, including hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of stormwater systems, riverine and coastal hydraulics, conveyance and treatment system design, and floodplain analysis.
- Analyze and design structural stormwater treatment measures.
- Prepare reports for stormwater and hydraulic analyses and designs.
- Conduct data collection and field work.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Highly motivated, detail‑oriented, and highly organized.
- Ability to solve problems, think creatively, and think critically.
- Team oriented.
- Strong computer skills with AutoCAD and GIS experience desired.
- Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analysis desired.
Qualifications
- 0–1 years of civil or environmental engineering experience.
- BS in Civil, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to perform field work and travel to project sites.
- FE certification desired.
Estimated salary range: $80,000–$83,000, based on internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, role responsibilities, and geographic location.
