Job Category : Purchasing - Procurement About this role. The Buyer is responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, components, and services necessary for production. This role requires someone who can balance cost, quality, and lead times while building strong relationships with suppliers. Youll work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to keep the lines running without interruptionand to keep costs in check. Responsibilities Source and buy raw materials, parts, and manufacturing supplies as needed, ensuring timely deliveries to support production schedules Evaluate vendor quotes, negotiate pricing and terms, and drive cost improvements without sacrificing quality Review and release purchase orders, track delivery status, and resolve any supply or quality issues Partner with engineering, planning, and production to understand requirements and anticipate needs Maintain accurate records of supplier contracts, pricing, and performance metrics Identify and vet new suppliers, perform risk assessment, and qualify vendors in alignment with company standards Monitor material shortages and expedite orders as required Support inventory management by working with logistics and production teams Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements Other duties as defined.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field (preferred). Will accept qualified work experience in lieu of education. 3+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Strong negotiation and communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP or MRP systems. Ability to analyze data and make sound purchasing decisions. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and supply chain best practices.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in an office and occasionally on the shop floor.
