The Community Health Services (CHS) Division of Public Health - Seattle & King County delivers direct care through Public Health Centers and partners with community agencies to provide medical, dental, WIC, family planning, and care coordination services. Its mission is to ensure equitable access to health care, especially for low-income and underserved populations. Within CHS, the Healthcare for the Homeless Network (HCHN) focuses on people experiencing homelessness in King County, offering medical, dental, behavioral health, case management, and a respite program in collaboration with Harborview, which operates the Edward Thomas House. The Street Medicine Program, part of HCHN, provides mobile health care through smaller vans and outreach teams. These teams deliver wound care, chronic disease management, infectious disease testing, and referrals directly at encampments, shelters, and community anchor sites across King County meeting people where they are and removing barriers to care.

Public Health Seattle-King County Health Care for the Homeless (HCHN) Street Medicine Program is seeking an Area Manager (HSA I) to lead the program in collaboration with the Clinical and Operational Supervisory team. This role is responsible for directing daily operations, including supervising and evaluating staffing needs, developing and monitoring the program budget, and establishing, prioritizing, and implementing program goals and objectives while ensuring alignment with compliance guidelines and regulations. The Area Manager will oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Street Medicine operations, including outreach teams, REACH clinical services, and contracted Senior Mobile Medical Services. The role also involves collaborating with staff, colleagues, and the HCHN Regional Health Administrator to develop and implement new initiatives, while ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures. The Street Medicine team includes providers, nurses, outreach workers, behavioral health education specialists, social workers, and administrative support staff. Core values of the program include trauma-informed care, equity and social justice, and harm reduction practices. The individual selected for this role will join an innovative and progressive team within the Community Health Services (CHS) Division of Public Health.

Commitment To Equity and Social Justice

Named after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., one of the most influential civil rights leaders in our nation's history, King County is a vibrant international community with residents that represent countries from around the world. It is a region with increasing diversity that cherishes the traditions of many cultures.

The county government has a deep commitment to equity and social justice and advancing practices, strategies, and policies that promote fairness, justice, and opportunity for all - in our workplaces and our communities. With this commitment, King County has adopted a pro-equity agenda to advance regional change and ensure that residents from all communities are incorporated into our emergency planning and public outreach efforts.

We recognize that structural racism consists of principles and practices that cause and justify an inequitable distribution of rights, opportunities, and experiences across racial groups. Since declaring Racism is a Public Health Crisis in June 2020, King County and Public Health committed to being intentionally anti-racist and accountable to Black, Indigenous and People of Color communities.
