Position Summary
The Business Intelligence team supports the firm across a broad spectrum of activities in support of new business and client relationship-building and strategic management decision making. The Business Intelligence team's functions include detailed client and market intelligence; strategic analysis of industry, market and geopolitical trends; predictive analytics to identify new business opportunities; and competitive intelligence.
The Specialist, Business Intelligence will leverage research and data analytics to support the Business Intelligence team in identifying new business opportunities, undertaking competitive intelligence, and supporting business development initiatives and firm decision-making.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Primary responsibility will be to research and analyze companies, industries, and markets to produce actionable intelligence- delivered mainly through Target Reports and related analyses-that supports business development opportunities and strategic planning.. Conduct in-depth research and provide analytical support to Business Development professionals and attorneys on client, practice, and firm-wide projects as assigned. Monitor and synthesize critical news and market developments affecting the legal industry, key clients, and relevant sectors to keep stakeholders informed and support timely strategic responses. Stay abreast of emerging trends, competitive intelligence, and other topics of strategic importance as assigned. Collaborate across the Business Development team and with other firm business services groups, including Knowledge Management and Finance, to effectively leverage various types of data to inform business development and firm strategy Qualifications/Position Requirements
Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex information from multiple sources and translate findings into clear, visually, and verbally compelling briefs and presentations. Present findings to stakeholders across the firm, including business development, partners, and firm leadership. Strong understanding of the legal industry and its business environment, with the ability to interpret competitor moves, market trends, and client dynamics to inform strategic positioning. Demonstrated proficiency with business, financial, and legal research tools (e.g., S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg, PitchBook, MergerMarket, Lex Machina) and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. General understanding of core transactional practice areas-including M&A, private equity, capital markets, and finance-and the ability to analyze companies, industries, and deal activity within these contexts. Exceptional attention to detail and strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Proven ability to work confidently and collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Proven capacity to balance multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Advanced degree (MSc, MLIS, MBA) preferred 3-5 years of experience in business intelligence or other comparable law firm or professional services experience
Compensation
The expected base salary for this position ranges from $110,000 - $125,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
