Our Client is seeking motivated and reliable Teaching Assistant's/Special Education Paraprofessionals in Washington, DC SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY
Assist the special education teacher in implementing lesson plans and individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students' needs.
Observe and record student behavior and academic progress, providing feedback to the teacher.
Help maintain a positive and structured classroom environment, reinforcing appropriate behaviors and managing disruptions.
Support students during classroom activities, transitions, and any physical or social interactions.
Modify instructional materials and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
Assist with communication between students, teachers, and parents, ensuring that everyone is informed about student progress.
Help students with personal care tasks as needed, including mobility, eating, and hygiene.
Work alongside other educators, therapists, and specialists to provide comprehensive support.
Attend IEP meetings and contribute insights about students' progress and needs.
Engage in training and workshops to enhance skills and stay informed about best practices in special education.
CLIENT'S REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
High School Diploma/GED Required, CDA, Associates Degree or Higher perferred
Previous experience working with children, especially in special education settings, is preferred
Understanding various disabilities and learning differences, as well as relevant teaching strategies and interventions.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parents.
A compassionate attitude and the ability to remain patient in challenging situations.
Techniques for managing classroom behavior and supporting positive interactions among students.
Ability to keep track of multiple students' needs and assist with administrative tasks.
