The AWS Global Sales Compensation (GSC) Operations team is seeking a Sales Compensation Systems Analyst to join our operations team. You will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day administration of the Varicent ICM sales compensation system for sales incentive-eligible employees globally. Objectives include driving operational process improvements in compensation, quota management, compensation adjustments, quarterly payouts, compensation plan administration, and improving the scalability of program tools.
This role requires collaboration with global business owners in HR, Legal, Sales, Finance, Sales Operations, Revenue, Segmentation, Product & Technology, and the Business Intelligence team to ensure proper plan design, calculation, delivery, and execution of sales commissions. Cross-team coordination, time management, and excellent communication skills are essential. It is key that we pay employees on time and accurately.
Key job responsibilities
- The ideal candidate maintains ownership and accountability and delivers best-in-class support to internal and external customers.
- Support the day-to-day administration of sales compensation including:
- Validate data; quantify impact through data analysis and communicate proposed resolutions and timelines to leadership.
- Identify operational risks and engage stakeholders to frame issues and desired end states.
- Communicate effectively with technical teams on root causes of issues and business requirements.
- Perform user acceptance testing (UAT) for process and system updates.
- Assist with the distribution of incentive compensation plans, including plan setup, quota shifts, revenue adjustments, etc.
- Ensure all compensation methodologies, policies, procedures, and governance are followed.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (HR, Tax, Legal) to maintain compensation methodologies, policies, and procedures in production.
- Support the global quarterly commission payout process including manual compensation adjustments, calculations, and approval processes.
- Create mechanisms to improve process efficiency.
- Demonstrate strong Excel and SQL skills as preferred qualifications.

About Sales, Marketing and Global Services (SMGS)
AWS SMGS drives revenue, adoption, and growth from small, mid-market, and enterprise customers, including the public sector.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Microsoft Excel experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with sales CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar software.
- Experience defining, refining and implementing sales processes, procedures, and policies or equivalent.
- Prior sales compensation experience; experience with sales ICM tools such as Varicent, Xactly, or similar software.
- 5+ years of finance, business management and sales operations experience.
- Experience working within a high-growth, technology company.
