Materials Manager
Sansom Staffing has partnered with a leading manufacturer in their markets for a permanent role in the south metro. The Materials Manager oversees all aspects of material flow within a manufacturing environment, including purchasing, inventory management, logistics, shipping, and receiving. This role ensures timely, cost-effective procurement and delivery of materials, accurate inventory control, and seamless coordination between suppliers, job sites, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Direct the purchasing function, including vendor selection, negotiations, purchase orders, and supplier performance management.
Oversee inventory control systems to maintain accuracy, reduce carrying costs, and prevent material shortages.
Manage shipping and receiving operations in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
Plan and coordinate material deliveries to manufacturing facilities and construction job sites.
Collaborate with production, operations, and project managers to align material availability with project schedules.
Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and KPIs for effective materials management.
Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Lead and develop a team responsible for purchasing, warehousing, shipping, and receiving activities.
Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and audit compliance for all material transactions.
Partner with finance on cost control, budgeting, and inventory valuation processes.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field preferred.
7–10 years of progressive experience in materials management within a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of purchasing, inventory control, logistics, and ERP/MRP systems.
Proven track record in coordinating supplier and job-site deliveries.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated leadership with experience managing cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on efficiency and cost savings.
Compensation: $85,000 per year
