Role Summary

The

Accounts Receivable Specialist

will be responsible for insurance collections and account resolution within a high-volume healthcare environment. This role does not involve patient interaction or cash posting but focuses heavily on payer communication, denial management, and account research. You'll work within a supportive team structure and contribute to the financial health of the organization by ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement.

This is a fast-paced, detail-oriented role ideal for someone with strong healthcare AR experience and a proactive, collaborative mindset.

Key Responsibilities

Manage assigned payer accounts (e.g., Humana, Blue Cross, Medicare, Medicaid) and follow up on outstanding claims. Investigate and resolve denials, discrepancies, and unpaid claims through portals and email communication. Research coding-related issues to support claim resolution (no coding required). Collaborate with a team of AR professionals in weekly huddles and ongoing support. Apply critical thinking to identify root causes and escalate issues as needed. Maintain accurate documentation and meet productivity goals. Adapt to changing account lists and payer assignments monthly. Ensure compliance with payer regulations and internal policies. Key Requirements 3+ years of healthcare-related accounts receivable experience. Strong understanding of insurance collections and denial management. Experience working with major payers (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, Humana, Blue Cross). Excellent time management and organizational skills in a remote setting. Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude. High school diploma or GED required; degree is a plus. Experience with ECW (electronic medical records) preferred.
