Position Summary:
The primary role of the
Pro Center Manager
position in
Des Moines, IA
is to ensure that warehouse and distribution processes and procedures are followed, and customers have a positive service experience. Must balance the workload so all daily tasks are performed safely, timely and accurately. The Pro Center Manager is accountable for the development and performance of their staff. They should display a professional image and lead by example. This role includes responsibility for maintaining the order and integrity of the warehouse and the inventory contained within.
Essential Functions: Safeguards warehouse employees, facility, operations, and contents by establishing and monitoring cleanliness and security processes and protocols for facility and equipment Partners with Occupational and Safety Manager to ensure that operations follows all current local, state, and federal safety regulations Ensures compliance with company safety program requirements including employee adherence to health and safety, hygiene, and security standards, monthly safety training, and regular auditing and reporting Ensures that facility functions, such as receiving, warehousing, distribution, and maintenance and storage of products are operating correctly and within company standards and policies Coordinates with other departments, clients, suppliers, and transportation companies to ensure products are shipped in a timely fashion. Manages warehouse and delivery operational needs through appropriate scheduling and task assignment Maintains the highest standards of customer service by immediately attending to and resolving customer issues Performs verification on incoming, in-process, and outgoing products Continually evaluates internal process and materials to improve the control of inventory Conducts regular cycle counts as per the established schedules and expectations Partners with Operations Manager to analyze inventory variances and maintain adherence to overall inventory accuracy expectations Set team and individual goals based on collaboration with the leadership team and set KPI expectations Initiate, coordinate, and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures Monitor workplace performance and lead training initiatives to improve employees Establish a best-in-class culture through team member inclusion and collaboration. Improve staff performance by coaching, mentoring, counseling, and disciplining employees Maintain warehouse staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. Provide regular feedback to team around accomplishments and wins Ensures the safe delivery of customer orders Partners with the Transportation Manager to ensure that delivery personnel comply with all DOT regulations and company E-log policies Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to effectively prioritize and delegate work Proficient with computers Effective oral and written communication skills Strong leadership and management skills Understanding of safety rules Knowledge of general software and applications Experience in management and knowledge of expected warehouse practices Proven ability to implement and carry out improvement initiatives and lead morning team member huddles Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent State driver's license with satisfactory DMV driving record Minimum of 3 plus years as a retail or warehouse manager or supply chain experience Experience operating a forklift Travel
Minimal Travel to other branches or off-site locations is required
Working conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical requirements
The employee must regularly lift and /or move 10 - 70 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds or more. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance.
