About the Role:
As a Middle Market Underwriting Associate, you'll play a vital role in evaluating and underwriting risks throughout the entire underwriting lifecycle, from submission to policy issuance, for both new and renewal business. You will collaborate closely with experienced Underwriters, ensuring they have the essential information to make informed decisions.
Your Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive underwriting analysis and documentation to assess risk acceptance in line with company standards for both renewal and new business.
Process endorsement requests within delegated authority and recommend actions to Underwriters for approvals beyond your authority.
Manage an assigned renewal portfolio, demonstrating the ability to prioritize renewal applications and outline important considerations for the Underwriter.
Serve as a liaison within the branch to address various issues, such as billing, collections, risk control, and underwriting guidance.
Ensure thorough documentation of assigned files, maintaining compliance and quality for all correspondence, proposals, and other related documentation.
Implement advanced pricing strategies on behalf of the Underwriter while adhering to regulatory guidelines.
Prepare and negotiate quote proposals with external partners while staying within your authorized limits.
Act as the primary contact for producers/customers regarding account matters, proactively identifying opportunities for account growth.
Assist in marketing our products and services through external partnerships and participate in field visits.
Become an expert in our systems and workflows, providing training and guidance to colleagues while gathering feedback for continuous improvement.
Stay updated on business strategies, regulations, and industry trends to enhance your contributions.
Skills and Qualifications:
Knowledge of Property and Casualty underwriting practices, including insurance products and policy procedures.
Exceptional time management and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with all levels of internal and external partners.
A proven ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
Experience in advising and coaching peers effectively.
A background in customer service with the ability to interact with diverse individuals through various communication channels.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant business applications.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
At least three years of relevant experience in the field.
Compensation and Benefits:
CNA offers a competitive salary range of $47,000 to $78,000 annually, determined by factors such as experience and location. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, financial stability, and overall well-being.
