Job Summary
: Manages daily, weekly, and/or monthly financial reporting; leads monthly f inancial statement preparation; supervises year-end audit and tax preparation for external CPA; assist with special projects as assigned; review work prepared by domestic and offshore accounting staff; assist Controller on complex reconciliations and financial analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
Roles & Responsibilities
:
Perform and supervise monthly financial closing procedures and compliance with appropriate GAAP accounting methods, including but not limited to journal entry preparation/posting, accrual estimation, large volume balance sheet reconciliations, financial performance analysis, and financial statement preparation. Manage, mentor, and train offshore accounting teams in India, create process improvements for easier workflow between vendor management and accounting systems, review and approve daily accounting work product. Lead operational accounting reporting, analysis and forecasting on daily, weekly and/or monthly basis Prepare borrowing base and bank covenant reporting. Supervise and prepare Canadian reporting and returns such as GST and worker's compensation. Lead annual financial audit with external auditors and periodic Accounts Receivable audits with bank. Oversight and review of balance sheet accounts, general ledger and payroll tax, create process improvements with accounting processes and recommend changes as needed. Manage data preparation and reporting for state, federal, and foreign tax compliance with external CPA firm. Perform back-up for key activities of Controller.
Experience and Educational Background Description:
BBA in accounting required and a minimum (5) five years' experience in financial accounting from general ledger to financial statement preparation. Strong analytical and problem solving skills to independently create annual expense estimates and forecasts, resolving balance sheet issues. Prior experience with asset based lending facilities, bank covenants, fixed charge coverage ratios and compliance. Must be technically savvy using various ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, PeopleSoft). Must have davanced Excel skills for use in analysis of large volume datasets. Experience managed and leading offshore accounting teams (preferably in India) Knowledge of Canadian GST/HST provincial taxes and experience working with the Canada Revenue Agency. Knowledge of payroll processing and/or state local taxesl.
