Regional Operations Manager – West
is responsible for overseeing operational performance in multiple markets, including Seattle, Denver, Minnesota, Kansas City, and Chicago.
This position is based out of Oak Lawn, IL , and the selected candidate will serve as the local Operations Manager for the Illinois market.
In this role, the Regional Operations Manager will also supervise Operations Managers and/or Warehouse and Tech Managers in each city within the region. The position reports directly to the Director of Operations and supports a unified strategy for operational excellence.
This role blends expertise in warehouse and tech refurbishment operations, e-waste and R2/NAID compliance, vendor coordination, and internal staff development. The goal is to maximize efficiency, ensure compliance, meet P&L targets, and scale sustainable impact through consistent systems and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Regional & Local Oversight
Serve as
local Operations Manager
for the home market while directly overseeing operational leaders in other cities (Operations Managers, or Warehouse and Tech Managers where no Ops Manager exists).
Align local operations with objectives and SOPs developed in coordination with the Director of Operations and the CEO.
Support standardization and implementation of technology, warehouse, and e-waste management procedures across markets.
Ensure consistent execution and compliance across the region with organizational policies and certifications (R2, NAID, ISO, DOT).
Operational Leadership
Support and coach market leads to achieve KPIs for device production, inventory throughput, e-waste management, and facility performance.
Assure P&L accountability for e-waste commodity and computer refurbishment e-commerce revenue in the home market, and ensure regional leaders have the training, support, staffing, and operational systems needed to achieve financial targets.
Champion strategies that increase device reuse rates by improving intake sorting, reducing unnecessary recycling, and streamlining the refurbishment and imaging workflow.
Monitor performance metrics and proactively identify opportunities for improvement across regional markets.
Ensure inventory is efficiently processed, stocked, and distributed through appropriate sales channels.
Coordinate with the Community Impact team for bulk orders, from assigning to offices through timely shipment and accurate sales entry.
Coordinate with the ITAD sales and account management teams to ensure operational readiness for client pickups, accurate logging, and timely processing of inbound assets.
Monitor downstream vendor compliance, including qualification checks and environmental certifications for reuse, recycling, or destruction partners.
Divert assets that do not meet mission criteria to surplus sales (e.g., wholesale, eBay) rather than recycling whenever possible, to maximize reuse, revenue recovery, and environmental impact.
Vendor Management & Supply Chain
Manage vendor relationships across assigned markets, including downstream recyclers, refurbishment parts suppliers, freight/logistics providers, and facility service vendors.
Monitor vendor performance to ensure adherence to compliance standards, service-level expectations, and organizational policies.
Support cost-saving initiatives by identifying opportunities to consolidate vendor services, improve purchasing efficiency, and reduce duplication across markets.
Collaborate with operations and procurement leads to negotiate pricing and secure favorable terms for commonly used parts, supplies, and services across all markets.
Proactively maintain availability of key supplies including packaging materials, PPE, and repair parts through proactive coordination with market staff and vendors.
Facility Safety & Compliance
Ensure cleanliness, safety, and organization across regional facilities.
Monitor equipment maintenance and oversee vendor relationships for facility operations.
Manage internal audits, external certifications, and regulatory documentation in coordination with compliance staff.
Coordinate regional transportation logistics and uphold DOT and environmental standards.
Oversee ITAD operations within each market to ensure secure handling, documentation, and disposition of client assets in compliance with R2, NAID, and ISO standards.
Ensure proper chain of custody procedures, from asset intake through final processing, with documentation aligned to industry and client requirements.
People & Performance Management
Supervise and coach Operations Managers or equivalent staff across assigned cities.
Ensure Warehouse Managers and Computer Technician Managers are accountable for meeting departmental KPIs and revenue targets, including recycling revenue and e-commerce sales performance.
Provide regular coaching, performance reviews, and support to local managers to drive continuous improvement in operational execution and financial results.
Review and analyze local recycling revenue and device sales data, and partner with market leaders to address variances, remove roadblocks, and implement corrective action plans as needed.
Lead onboarding and training of new operations staff and provide ongoing development opportunities.
Collaborate with HR and leadership to ensure consistency in operational staff performance and accountability systems.
Volunteer & Community Workgroup Integration
Partner with local and staff to integrate volunteer labor and workgroup programs into daily operations (target: 30% of labor).
Ensure systems, training, and supervision enable high-quality volunteer contributions aligned with operational output and standards.

Requirements:
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, operations, or related field .
5+ years in warehouse, tech refurbishment, or operational leadership, preferably with multi-site experience.
Familiarity with e-waste, R2/NAID compliance, and ISO 14001/45001 standards.
Strong inventory management, staff development, and vendor coordination experience.
Proven success leading teams and driving operational KPIs.
Passion for digital equity, sustainability, and scalable community impact.
Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to meet deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced, changing environment
Must be flexible, self-motivated, and adaptable
