Description
The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial operations across MAC, ZCON, and MMF. This individual will assist with financial strategy, ensure fiscal discipline, and support sustainable growth across all divisions. The Controller will serve as a key advisor to the CEO and management team, providing insights that shape business decisions and long-term planning.
Financial Strategy
• Serve as an advisor to the CEO and executive team, providing proactive guidance on financial risks, identifying opportunities, and supporting decisions related to capital deployment.
Financial Planning and Analysis
• Lead the annual budgeting process, quarterly forecasts, and financial planning across all divisions.
• Analyze financial data, identify trends, and make recommendations for cost optimization and revenue enhancement.
• Deliver actionable insights through variance analysis and KPI tracking.
Risk Management
• Establish effective risk mitigation strategies and manage financial risks by maintaining a robust internal control environment.
• Monitor macroeconomic indicators, industry trends, and regulatory changes to anticipate and mitigate financial exposure.
• Oversee Corporate liability insurance programs, bonding requirements, their renewals, and premium and compliance audits.
Capital Management
• Optimize capital allocation across business units, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with strategic priorities.
• Manage relationships with banks, lenders, bonding companies, and investors to support financing needs and capital structure optimization.
Financial Reporting
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, including WIP schedules, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
• Oversee the monthly closing process, ensuring timely reconciliation of accounts and preparation of financial statements.
• Present financial results, forecasts, and strategic analyses to the CEO and other senior leadership.
• Maintain transparency in financial reporting across all divisions.
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight
• Strive to ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and other applicable financial standards.
• Lead the coordination of external audits, collaborate with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
• Stay current on changes in accounting standards and financial legislation, timely implementing required changes.
Team Leadership
• Build and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team across MAC, ZCON, and MMF.
• Foster a culture of excellence, integrity, and continuous improvement.
• Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities to team members.
• Promote cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing across departments.
Cash Management
• Oversee cash and treasury operations, maintaining liquidity and availability of working capital. Implement strategies to optimize working capital, including management of receivables and payables.
Department Management
• Direct all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, treasury and financial systems.
• Ensure consistency and accuracy in financial processes across divisions.
• Collaborate with IT and operations to enhance financial systems, automation, and reporting capabilities.
Accounting Initiatives
• Lead the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures that facilitate accuracy, transparency, and compliance across all divisions.
• Drive continuous improvement in accounting workflows. Monitor and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets and support audit readiness.
• Collaborate with HR and operations to align payroll, benefits, and labor cost tracking with financial reporting and industry standards and best practices.
• Support incentive plan tracking and financial metric validation for performance-based compensation programs.
Payroll Oversight, Management, and Compliance
• Oversee all payroll operations for MAC, ZCON, and MMF, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee compensation, benefits, and deductions as well as certified payroll processing and reporting.
• Ensure payroll practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including wage and hour laws, tax withholding, and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with HR and operations to align payroll and benefits updates.
Provide guidance on payroll related inquiries from employees and management by resolving issues promptly.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally in construction, manufacturing, or related industries.
• Proven track record of strategic financial management in multi-division environments.
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
• Experience with ERP systems, financial modeling, and capital planning.
