Job Title: Radiologic Technologist Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Computed Tomography Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Fri/Sat/Sun Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1-2 years of CT experience License: Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible. Certifications: BLS Must-Have: High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent Description: Under general supervision, specializes in the performance of computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients. May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares patients for the examination. Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examinations. Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary. Prepares the procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies. Analyzes the anatomical structure of the patient, sets up equipment, and performs the CT scan. Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied. Administers intravenous contrast media, including the utilization of power injectors. Monitors patients for possible reactions as appropriate to the study and provides immediate care to patients if a reaction occurs. May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for the procedure. Ensures adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored. Assists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies. Performs all imaging procedures by demonstrating principles of radiation protection. May involve shielding of patients and selection of appropriate equipment settings to reduce dose using other ALARA techniques. Resolves any image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery. Completes all study indexing in the Radiology Information System. Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with a Radiologist before performing the study. Demonstrates consistent team member standards of excellence including open communication and a positive attitude. Performs all documentation in the medical record as necessary to support all clinical and billing functions. May work in a fixed unit or in an ambulatory mobile unit. Potentially exposed to radiation if proper precautions are not utilized. May be exposed to high-voltage equipment and potentially contagious patients. Occasionally may lift and/or move equipment and/or patients that exceed 10 lbs. Demonstrates teamwork, initiative, and willingness to learn. Accepts and respects diversity without judgment.
