Job Description
Position Title: Contract Logistics Manager
Location: Wood Dale, IL
Reports To: Vice President of the Central Region
Salary Range:$100,000 - $110,000 + Car Allowance
Role Summary
Responsible for formulating, developing, and implementing strategies to expand new business opportunities and maximize profits within the region through efficient logistics operations. Oversees and drives initiatives to strengthen the company's logistics business and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities Supervise and lead initiatives to achieve business objectives related to logistics operations. Support regional sales activities in the customer logistics domain. Make key decisions regarding operations management and provide recommendations to senior management. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders. Oversee on-site operations, safety, labor management, and continuous improvement initiatives. Standardize and optimize operational processes across the region. Collaborate with HQ Segment Managers and Regional VPs on data reporting, analysis, and improvement actions. Ensure high-quality service delivery and drive continuous improvement. Manage and negotiate buy/sell pricing, and control fixed and operational costs. Maintain appropriate staffing levels and promote employee development. Take financial and operational responsibility for the regional logistics business. Establish and achieve regional sales and profit targets. Strengthen key customer relationships and execute network operations to optimize logistics performance. Conduct numerical and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Required Knowledge Supply Chain Management theory and optimization practices. Logistics and trade operations, including warehousing, transportation, and forwarding. Comprehensive understanding of customers' businesses and supply chains. Practical Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Customer Experience Management (CEM). Financial literacy (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow). Process design, operational improvement, and performance management methods. SCM and logistics planning through IT systems and digital platforms. Knowledge of logistics facilities, equipment, and technology. Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations related to warehousing, insurance, transportation, dangerous goods, customs, import/export, and air/ocean shipping. Required Skills Proven leadership and team management ability. Strong negotiation and deal-closing skills. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Excellent customer relationship and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Strong listening and analytical skills to identify customer needs and develop tailored solutions. Competence in designing business and supply chain solutions that deliver customer value. Ability to define and manage business and IT requirements. Experience with setting KPIs and achieving performance goals. Sound pricing judgment under both known and uncertain cost conditions. Strong interpersonal communication to build trust and collaboration across divisions, branches, and global offices.
