About the Engagement
We are partnering with a major public utility client on a mission-critical
Customer Information System (CIS) Transformation . This large-scale program will modernize billing, customer care, and revenue management operations. We are seeking an
ORT (Operational Readiness Testing) Calibration Billing Consultant & Analyst
to play a key role in preparing and validating the billing system for a successful go-live.
Must work on our W2 Consultant will travel upto 25% to either Columbus, OH or Merrillville, IN
Position Overview
The
ORT Calibration Billing Consultant & Analyst
will be responsible for
end-to-end operational readiness testing and calibration of billing processes
within the new CIS environment. This includes validating bill accuracy, testing rate structures, reconciling financial data, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and customer service standards prior to deployment.
Key Responsibilities Lead
Operational Readiness Testing (ORT)
for billing modules within the CIS transformation program, ensuring all billing scenarios and rate structures are accurately configured. Perform
calibration of billing processes : review rate models, test rate changes, validate meter reads, and ensure correct proration and adjustments. Develop, execute, and document
billing test cases
including high-volume, edge, and exception scenarios to validate bill accuracy. Work closely with business, IT, and QA teams to identify, log, and resolve billing-related defects during testing cycles. Provide
data analysis and reconciliation
support to ensure alignment between legacy and transformed billing data. Support
regulatory compliance
by validating tariffs, taxes, and rate schedules applied in the new system. Facilitate defect triage meetings, provide detailed reporting on billing test progress, and support go/no-go readiness decisions. Assist with
training, knowledge transfer, and change management
activities for billing teams preparing for the new system. Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience
in utility billing, CIS, or revenue management systems. Hands-on experience with
Operational Readiness Testing (ORT)
or large-scale CIS testing initiatives. Strong knowledge of
billing processes, rate structures, tariffs, and regulatory requirements
within utilities. Experience with
billing calibration, bill testing, and data reconciliation
between legacy and new systems. Proficiency with
testing tools
(Client ALM, JIRA, Tosca, or equivalent). Demonstrated ability to
analyze complex billing data , identify discrepancies, and recommend solutions. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with major CIS platforms (e.g. SAP IS-U, Open Smartflex, etc.). Prior involvement in a
Customer Transformation or Billing System Modernization program
in a regulated utility environment. Knowledge of
meter-to-cash processes , AMI/MDM integration, and customer rate migrations. Familiarity with
change management
and
end-user training
for billing teams during system cutover.
