Financial Aid Director

Salary Range: $85,000 - $100,000

Ensign College, a small, student-centered private religious college, is seeking an experienced and student-focused Director of Financial Aid to lead and manage its Financial Aid Office. The Director plays a vital role in supporting student access and affordability by administering federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid programs with integrity, efficiency, and a commitment to excellent service. This position is both strategic and hands-on, requiring a collaborative leader who can manage operations, compliance, and counseling with equal skill.

Key Responsibilities: Oversee the daily operations of the Financial Aid Office, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of financial aid applications, awards, and disbursements.

Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations (including Title IV).

Supervise, train, and support a small team of financial aid professionals.

Collaborate with Admissions, Business Office, Registrar, and other campus departments to support enrollment and retention goals.

Provide financial counseling to prospective and current students and their families, helping them understand their options and responsibilities.

Maintain current knowledge of regulations and best practices through ongoing professional development and involvement in relevant organizations.

Contribute to the preparation and submission of financial aid reports, including IPEDS, FVT/GE, and other required institutional or government filings.

Manage the institutional aid budget in coordination with senior leadership.

Participate actively in the college's annual audit, including the preparation and review of financial aid documentation and processes.

Oversee the implementation of a new student information system.

Manage the ongoing optimization of current financial aid software and system processes.

Ensure excellent customer service through clear communication, accessible systems, and a student-first mindset.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.

Minimum of 8-10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial aid administration.

Strong knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and reporting requirements.

Experience with financial aid management systems

Demonstrated ability to lead a team, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively with diverse populations.

Conditions of Employment:

On-site position, 8 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday

Occasional evening or weekend hours for peak processing times or campus events.

Must reside in Utah or have the ability to relocate prior to start.

Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Skills & Abilities

Working knowledge and clear understanding of Title IV programs, Federal Financial Aid regulations, policies, and mandates.

Proficiency in utilizing financial aid software.

Ability to interpret regulatory updates and translate them into institutional policy.

Ability to understand budgets, forecast future budgets, and analyze financial data.

Have the ability to effectively coordinate with financial aid partners internally and externally.

Advanced skills in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Workday Finance, etc.).

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and use of the Microsoft suite of programs.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

Strong ethical standards and commitment to integrity in financial aid reporting.

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and privacy.

Requirements for Employment Eligibility

Membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Worthiness to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.

Receive clearance from the Church Educational System Ecclesiastical Clearance Office.

Refrain from behavior or expression that seriously and adversely affects the college mission or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,
