Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Pediatrics ER - Emergency Room Discipline: RN Start Date: 11/28/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse – Pediatric Emergency Room (Night Shift) Location: Upstate University Hospital, 750 E Adams St, Syracuse, NY 13210 Contract Duration: 13 weeks Shifts: Night, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) Number of Openings: 5 Job Overview: Upstate University Hospital is seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) for the Pediatric Emergency Department (PED) . This is a travel opportunity for professionals with a strong background in pediatric emergency care. The role requires advanced triage skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide patient care in a Pediatric Emergency Department setting. Perform triage and assessment of pediatric patients; strong triage skills required. Administer IV therapy and monitor telemetry. Utilize EPIC EMR for documentation (preferred). Float to other areas within the hospital as needed. Work scheduled nights, every other weekend, and select holidays. Follow hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control procedures. Qualifications: License: Current New York State RN license . Experience: Minimum 2 years pediatric ED experience within the last 2 years. Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) – required PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – required Preferred: EPIC EMR experience Level I or II trauma experience Ability to read telemetry strips and administer IV therapy. Formal triage training required. Requirements: Candidates must have acute care hospital experience in a facility of similar size or trauma level. Travelers must work 3 holidays during the contract. Full Social Security Number required upon submission. References: at least one supervisor reference required.
