Position Summary:

The Director of Communications is responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and management of all communications, marketing, and public relations efforts for the College of Nursing. This position guides a multi-functional team to enhance the college's visibility, reputation, and stakeholder engagement while ensuring the consistency and integrity of the college's brand across all channels. The Director oversees the creation and dissemination of content, manages the communications and marketing budget, and supports the college's mission by advancing its reputation and foster meaningful engagement with all stakeholders. The incumbent reports to the Dean of the College of Nursing.

Responsibilities

Oversee the Office of Marketing and Communications and associated staff Develop and implement communications and marketing strategies aligned with college goals Maintain the college's brand and voice across all channels Oversee press relations, storytelling, and brand consistency Analyze marketing and communication efforts and provide insights for continuous improvement Prepare reports for leadership and support major events Manage communications budgets and sensitive issues Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of seven years related exempt experience, including five years of managerial experience. Experience leading a team, project, program or function.

Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree. • Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate (https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2023/1310) is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S. • SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements • A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed: • (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree; • (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree; • (c) Six years of direct experience for a master's degree; • (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or • (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree • Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment. • Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or related field (Master's preferred) Five (5) years or more of progressive experience in communications. Proven track record of managing media relations and strategic communications, ideally in higher education or healthcare Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Experience with digital strategy, including social media and analytics
