Senior Automation Technician
Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced senior level Technician to assist with the assembly, startup, and troubleshooting of industrial automation equipment. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, including machining and fabrication combined with electrical troubleshooting and controls configuration skills, including PLC interface experience. The ideal candidate will be hands‑on, safety‑focused, and capable of working independently or collaboratively in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Interpret and work from mechanical drawings, blueprints, and schematics for fabrication and assembly of custom industrial systems.
Perform complex mechanical assembly, machining, welding, and fabrication tasks.
Configure and troubleshoot control systems, including PLC hardware and logic interfaces.
Perform startup and commissioning of automated machinery in‑house and at customer locations.
Read and troubleshoot PLCs and assist in modifying control logic under engineering direction.
Wire and test industrial control panels, including 24 VDC through 480 VAC systems.
Diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs on conveyors, gear‑driven systems, and vibratory equipment.
Collaborate with engineering and field service teams to resolve equipment issues.
Adhere to all company and customer safety procedures and protocols.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in a technician or field service role, preferably in automation or custom equipment manufacturing.
Proficient in PLC reading and troubleshooting (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
Experience with control panel wiring and industrial electrical systems (24 VDC to 480 VAC).
Strong background in mechanical assembly, fabrication, welding, and machining.
Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, and hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams.
AWS Certified Welder (or equivalent).
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for field service work, when required.
Self‑motivated and organized with excellent problem‑solving skills.
Strong communication skills and ability to mentor junior technicians.
High level of attention to detail and safety‑conscious mindset.
Able to work in varying environments, including manufacturing floors and customer sites.
Pay: $35-45/hr based on experience
