Supplier Quality Engineer The Supplier Quality Engineer will execute and expand key initiatives within the supplier quality organization, focusing on compliance, process, and product audits; MRB, FAI, and corrective actions; supplier performance reporting; and continuous improvement activities.
Job Responsibilities
Assess suppliers’ manufacturing and quality processes through audits, including AS9100 compliance audits, APQP audits, and special process audits.
Lead and/or support MRB activities to optimize disposition of non‑conforming material and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Conduct on‑site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions.
Promote continuous improvement techniques such as Lean, Six‑Sigma, Poka‑Yoke, and PFMEA.
Escalate unresolved supplier quality issues within assigned projects and suppliers.
Support suppliers in evaluating manufacturing or business processes, identifying improvement opportunities, and developing solutions to enhance performance.
Provide technical guidance to solve process and product quality issues and improve internal and outgoing quality performance.
Maintain detailed supplier performance reports and communicate weekly and monthly progress to meet customer expectations.
Undertake special projects as required.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Communicate efficiently and effectively with all stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of abnormalities.
Required Skills & Qualifications
8+ years of hands‑on experience as a Quality Engineer in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
5‑8 years of FAI experience with AS9102 (FAI) standards.
Strong understanding of engineering processes, standard drawing conventions, and GD&T.
5‑8 years of experience with ISO9000 and AS9100 quality management systems in production, quality, and logistics.
Knowledge of FAA, EAR, and ITAR standards.
Experience leading customer audits.
Strong verbal, written, and communication skills.
Project management, time management, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to work as an effective team member and lead other team members.
Additional Desired Skills
Practical experience in implementing Quality Engineering tools and systems such as DOE, FMEA, SPC, RCCA, APQP, PPAP, controls plans, material control, process control, product evaluation, MSA, metrology, and automated measurement.
General Requirements
Ability to pass background and drug screen.
Valid driver's license and auto insurance.
Vision exam: near vision (8–soff 8 at 12"), far vision (4–soff 20/50), color perception (6/9).
U.S. citizenship required for certain defense contracts.
Additional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
4+ years of experience with Microsoft Office, SQL, Tableau, and Python.
Proven experience pulling and analyzing data for root cause analysis and driving process improvement initiatives.
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience for engineering or technical positions.
Working Conditions Typical office conditions with frequent interaction with the quality management team, SMS team, and external customers.
Incumbents may need to conduct light lifting, sit for prolonged periods, stand, walk, reach, and occasionally drive to suppliers.
The role may require occasional extended hours and weekend overtime.
High noise levels are typical.
