Job Description This position is a Senior Developer/Systems Architect for the Office of Information Services. The systems architect is responsible for the overall engineering and development of information systems and coordinates all levels of system design, work processes, user interface design, and application infrastructure design. The Sr Developer/Systems Architect defines and implements software development processes and standards, mentors and supports application development staff, evaluates technology upgrades, and develops strategies for technology integration. The role also supports and develops processes and tools related to software engineering, such as testing, continuous integration, configuration management, and software builds.
Key responsibilities include:
Oversight of system architecture and design across programs
Mentoring development staff and maintaining coding standards
Evaluating technology upgrade opportunities and integration strategies
Developing and maintaining software engineering processes and tools
Facilitating communication with senior and executive management
Minimum Qualifications
Seven (7) years of information systems experience in application development.
Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field.
Five (5) years of information systems experience in application development.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
Three (3) years of information systems experience in application development.
Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.
One (1) year of information systems experience in application development.
Desired Attributes
Ability to work with little guidance when performing architectural technology functions.
Support cross‑functional project teams including Application Development, IT operations, and Business staff.
Convert high‑level customer‑driven ideas into actionable work objectives.
Solid understanding and willingness to learn and use the OIS Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
Knowledge of technology stacks: .NET, Angular, IIS, Azure DevOps, Microsoft OS, SQL Server, etc.
Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL, database design, and T‑SQL query language and SSIS.
Strong knowledge of relational database design, modeling, manipulation, and ETL.
Experience supporting, monitoring, and maintaining Custom and COTS systems in production for business partners.
