The Opportunity A high‑growth life and annuity platform – backed by a top‑tier alternative investment firm – is building a modern insurance balance sheet through both reinsurance and M&A. They are seeking a Senior Statutory Reporting Accountant to play a critical role in the build‑out of the finance and reporting function.
This is a hands‑on technical role within a lean, high‑performing team – ideal for someone who wants to work closely with senior leadership and gain exposure to complex investment and reinsurance structures. What You’ll Do
Own key components of the quarterly and annual statutory financial reporting process across multiple U.S. insurance entities.
Prepare and analyze Blue Book financials, statutory schedules (including Schedules B, BA), and related investment disclosures.
Support all regulatory filings and ensure timely, accurate responses to insurance department inquiries.
Collaborate across finance, actuarial, and investment teams to ensure integrity in reinsurance accounting and investment reporting.
Assist with annual statutory audits and manage supporting documentation for auditors and regulators.
Maintain and reconcile general ledger activity, journal entries, and monthly close processes.
Monitor changes in NAIC and statutory guidance, helping implement process improvements as the business scales.
Contribute to building a best‑in‑class reporting framework – one that's designed for transparency, speed, and scalability.
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA highly regarded.
5‑8 years of insurance accounting experience with a strong focus on US STAT reporting.
Solid understanding of life and annuity products (e.g., MYGA, FIA) and related statutory treatment.
Experience preparing or reviewing Blue Book filings and NAIC schedules.
Exposure to reinsurance and investment accounting preferred.
High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast‑moving environment.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills – confident engaging across functions and with senior stakeholders.
