Physician Assistant - Pulmonary and Critical Care U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a full‑time Certified Physician Assistant (PA) to join the Pulmonary and Critical Care section of the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System. The PA will provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission.

Summary The successful candidate will deliver advanced clinical practice, consult, and management to Veterans with complex pulmonary conditions, support a Whole Health System of care, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

Obtain clinical histories and perform physical examinations on patients with a variety of complex pulmonary conditions.

Collect and synthesize patient data, formulate comprehensive care plans, include differential diagnoses and prescribe treatment modalities and order diagnostic tests.

Complete outpatient clinic encounters, including e‑consult and telehealth patient visits.

Provide pulmonary disease consultation and triage, handling electronic and telephone communication with pulmonary patients and collaborating with the clinic scheduling team.

Track performance measures and use data to enhance access, implement and improve projects.

Develop and implement best practice standards for pulmonary care.

Serve as a resource and basic pulmonary consultant for trainees, residents, therapy students, pharmacy residents, nurse practitioner students, and other providers.

Assist with education of patients and families, and provide continuity of care as a panel manager for acute and chronic health conditions.

Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, and diagnostic studies.

Prescribe pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic interventions as appropriate.

Initiate referrals and consults to specialty services.

Adjust care plans to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Demonstrate leadership and collaboration within the interdisciplinary team.

Work the schedule 7:30 am–4:00 pm; telework is not available.

Qualifications

Certified Physician Assistant status and current PA license.

Experience in pulmonary, critical care, or related clinical settings.

Strong clinical decision‑making, communication, and teamwork skills.

Ability to manage a panel of patients independently, using evidence‑based practice.

Commitment to continuous learning and quality improvement initiatives.

Willingness to participate in teaching, research, or academic activities as opportunities arise.

Compensation Base pay range: $90,840.00/yr – $159,978.00/yr.

Location: Louis Stokes VA Medical Center and Parma – OH CBOC (alternate between sites).
