Job Summary
The Security Lead at the Ellison Medical Institute plays a pivotal role in creating a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all staff, patients, and visitors. This position leads day‑to‑day security operations with professionalism and precision, guiding contract security officers to uphold the highest standards of safety, service, and integrity. The Security Lead takes a hands‑on approach to incident response, investigation, and reporting. The role also supports VIP and event security logistics, ensuring seamless coordination and discretion at every level. Through proactive communication, thoughtful leadership, and collaboration across departments, the Security Lead helps foster a culture of safety that combines vigilance with concierge‑level service—ensuring every interaction reflects the Institute’s commitment to care and excellence.

Job Accountabilities
Lead Daily Security Operations: Oversee on‑site security personnel to ensure consistent compliance with policies, procedures, and service expectations.
Incident Response & Reporting: Act as the first point of contact for security incidents, coordinating prompt responses, engaging with local authorities when necessary, and maintaining thorough documentation.
Guest Support: Coordinate and escort distinguished guests, ensuring their safety, privacy, and a professional, discreet experience.
Event Security Support: Plan and execute security measures for special events, managing logistics and proactively addressing potential risks to ensure smooth operations.
Team Communication & Coordination: Promote clear communication, collaboration, and accountability within the security team and across departments to support an efficient and service‑oriented security operation.
Additional Information
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field (preferred).
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in security operations, preferably in environments involving high‑profile individuals or executive‑level settings.
Licenses:
California Security Guard Card (required).
Exposed Firearm Permit (preferred).
CCW or LEOSA certification (preferred).
First Aid/AED certified (required or must be obtained upon hire).
Skills: Proven leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage, train, and coordinate a security team. Demonstrated capacity to respond calmly and decisively to incidents, emergencies, and VIP‑related security needs, while maintaining strong coordination with external security partners.
Work Schedule: Full‑time, exempt position. Typical hours are 9:00 AM‑5:00 PM, with flexibility required for special events, VIP visits, or emergency situations.
