Senior Project Manager – Power & Energy Project Delivery (SPMP&E)

is a key member of the Power & Energy team working on utility projects for Nexus.The SPMP&E role requires a broad knowledge of the substation work that we do for specific clients including their technical standards, management processes, estimating tools, scheduling requirements, QA/QC processes, project structures, and client team dynamics.Working with the P&E project managers, the SPMP&E ensures that all Nexus utility projects within the client portfolio are executed according to the client standard workflows, agreed upon schedules, and within the allotted budgets.The SPMP&E is also responsible for ensuring that the latest CAD standards are being implemented and the procurement group is fully integrated with the individual project teams. The SPMP&E also works with the Director – Power & Energy to assist with monthly reporting, portfolio scheduling, and resource planning.Accountabilities:

Safety:

Working with the Nexus safety director, P&E PMs, and P&E senior staff engineer to ensure staff has proper substation entry training.

Project Delivery Quality:

Implementation of client and Nexus processes to ensure P&E utility projects are executed according to Nexus and client project procedures.

Systems and audits are in place to ensure conformance to Nexus Quality System (NQS).

Assessing any NCRs or rework, suggesting solutions for minimizing impact to Nexus and clients, and implementing lessons learned and standards enhancements with the broader project team.

Team Development and Performance:

Lead by example by exemplifying leadership, positive work culture, and the Nexus Principles (safety, integrity, quality, service and value)

Be a resource for the P&E PMs to ensure project milestones are met and implement portfolio-wide systems to standardize project execution.

Foster continuous team member technical and personal skill development and improvement including documenting annual goals and providing timely performance feedback.

Work with the Director – P&E to identify resource constraints and assist with inter-office collaboration and planning.

Client Satisfaction:

Attend client facing meetings on a regular basis to assist with removing project roadblocks and facilitate better communication.

Process Improvement:

Ensure training, practices, tools and continuous improvement are effectively used to maintain market competitiveness and quality commitments.

Measure performance and improve efficiency through targeted processes tools and technology.

Implements new tools portfolio-wide to reduce repetitive tasks for the P&E PMs.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Management:

Be a trusted resource for the P&E PMs and provide a ‘backstop’ for functional project requirement implementation. Become an information conduit from the P&E MSL and P&E Director and the P&E PMs. Ensure communication remains open across the P&E vertical.

Project Planning and Execution:

Maintain overall portfolio metrics and project management standards.

Understand portfolio schedule constraints, especially around QAQC requirements, and provide long term planning solutions.

Work with project P&E project director and P&E PMs to understand workload constraints and opportunities and implement tools to increase efficiency.

Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of projects across the client portfolio.

Ensure practices and processes are trained, understood and followed to meet NPPs.

Business Growth and Opportunity Capture:

Work with the P&E MSL & P&E Director to implement best practices across new Nexus utility clients.

Client and Stakeholder Management:

Be a visible presence in client monthly meetings and an active participant in process enhancement opportunities.

Ensure client satisfaction and project alignment with client expectations and requirements.

Quality:

Conduct lessons learned and root cause analyses to drive continuous improvement.

Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and efficiency improvements.

Strategic Development:

Contribute to the development and execution of the company’s strategic goals and objectives.

Work with P&E MSL and P&E PD to implement proven project processes across new utility / P&E clients.

Education and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related field (required).

Professional Engineering License ().

Minimum of 10 years of experience in a wide range of management positions.

Proven track record of leading teams and developing work processes to drive project efficiencies.

Experience in personnel administration and coordination.

Strong leadership, interpersonal and team management skills.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

In-depth knowledge of engineering analytics and design tools.

Strong business understanding and acumen.
