Senior Stress Engineer – Defence/Nuclear – Derby – Permanent
Are you a stress analysis specialist ready to step into a high‑impact role supporting the UK’s most critical infrastructure?
We're hiring a Senior Stress Engineer to join a leading engineering team based on‑site in Derby. This is a full‑time, staff position working 3 – 5 days per week on site — optional hybrid working — supporting advanced projects in the defence and nuclear sectors.
What you’ll be doing:
Delivering structural integrity substantiations via FEA and code‑based assessments
Supporting peer reviews and technical documentation
Modelling and analysis using ABAQUS (explicit/implicit), Python scripting a plus
Applying standards including ASME B&PVC, R6, and ideally RCC‑M
Providing defect tolerance and fatigue/fracture analysis
Working within quality and time budgets, contributing to bids as required
What you’ll bring:
Extensive experience in fatigue, fracture, and thermal stress assessments
Nuclear or defence background, though other regulated sectors considered
Competence in ABAQUS/CAE or similar tools
Familiarity with CRACKEN or equivalent
UK sole and eligibility for security clearance
