Responsibilities We are seeking an experienced and talented Mechanical Engineer with expertise in plastic design. Here is a bit about the role:

New Product development including engineering concept, design analysis, calculations and problem solving.

Conduct form/fit feasibility studies on new product concepts.

Address product design issues with respect to tooling and manufacturing with other team members.

Provide technical support to other departments.

Work directly on the development of prototype parts.

Responsible for CAD design, drawings and changes.

Responsible for conducting design reviews and drawing reviews.

Apply project management principles to define task workload and timelines.

Assure technical quality and design process rigor in execution of all assigned tasks.

Apply product lifecycle management approach through PDM software.

Qualifications

Excellent written/verbal communication skills and superior interpersonal skills for interaction with all levels of personnel and contacts within and outside IWT.

S. in Mechanical Engineering, preferably with a concentration in plastics part design and molding.

Proven creative skills in product design and problem solving through coursework or personal interests.

Must have at least 5+ years designing 3D (physical) products that have a high percentage of plastic materials.

Hands‑on physical skills associated with product development extremely important.

Experience with working in a shop environment and ability to make simple prototypes highly desirable.

5+ years with CAD experience required; SolidWorks preferred.

Experience with a range of materials (particularly various plastics) and processes (injection molding, thermoforming).

Must possess a comfort level with (and interest in) working in a very fast‑paced product development environment where ideation and product design rapidly evolve.
