Bridge Superintendent
– The Bridge Superintendent is responsible for the safety, quality, efficiency, and timeliness of the bridge construction project. This position provides on‑site coordination for all phases of the project, including material, equipment, subcontractors, and labor. The Bridge Superintendent must be organized, possess good judgment skills, communicate effectively, and have technical knowledge of concrete and steel bridge structures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Promotes safety, quality, efficiency, and core values
Develops, refines, and updates the project schedule
Has complete knowledge and understanding of contract drawings and specifications
Understands project costs and manages company assets
Creates and manages project documentation
Coordinates project operations including subcontractors and material vendors
Keeps all regulations to ensure project compliance
Provides leadership and maintains effective working relationships with on‑site staff
Develops daily crew lists and manages field activities to ensure the project completion date is met
Leads weekly foreman meetings
Plans and develops a three‑week forecast to proactively identify issues and facilitate solutions
Maintains regulatory compliance for projects
Interfaces and maintains good relationships with owners

Minimum Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a construction‑related field
Experience:
Minimum of five years of progressive responsibility supervising bridge‑focused construction projects
Minimum of five years of experience in a construction‑related field
Requirements/Competencies:
Ability to multitask on complex projects
Ability to read construction drawings and understand specifications
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Can take charge and capitalize on opportunities
Demonstrates strong ethics and integrity through honest and principled behavior
Communicates clearly and convincingly, both orally and in writing
Good decision‑making ability and problem‑solving skills
Adapts quickly to new information and changing conditions
Possesses good interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
Leads by example, supports employee growth and development
Builds productive working relationships with coworkers and external parties
Manages and encourages change and transition processes
Proven record of on‑time, on‑budget performance
Valid Driver’s License Required
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work This is a full‑time position; the normal work week is 40 hours Monday through Friday. Flexibility is required to support time‑sensitive issues as they arise.
Work Environment Most work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. The schedule involves travel to various field locations and may include overnight stays. Administrative work takes place in a non‑smoking office or field office environment.
Physical Requirements An employee must meet the physical requirements to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Can sit or stand for prolonged periods
Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
Occasionally bend, twist, squat, and kneel
Occasionally walk up and down stairs
Has visual acuity with or without correction
Has hearing acuity with or without correction
Can walk on uneven terrain with obstacles
Can work in a variety of weather conditions
