Job Summary We are seeking a Structural Professional Engineer with a specialization in steel structures. This is a direct hire role located in Saint Joseph, Missouri.

The Professional Engineer is responsible for providing safe, efficient, and code‑compliant structural designs for pre‑engineered steel building systems. This role supports both internal teams and external clients by delivering high‑quality engineering solutions that align with project goals, manufacturing capabilities, and industry standards.

This engineer will lead and support the design process, review the work of junior engineers, and serve as a technical expert throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will be licensed, experienced in steel building systems, and comfortable working in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.

This position offers relocation assistance and a 10% annual bonus.

Job Details

Location: Saint Joseph, Missouri

Job Type: Permanent, Full‑time

Salary: $115,000 - $130,000 per year

Work Hours: 9 am to 5 pm

Responsibilities

Use engineering systems and drawings to provide project coordination, structural design services, and models for customers for precision‑engineered building systems.

Provide well‑utilized designs of members and connections for detailing and manufacturing that meet customer requirements and achieve departmental objectives and profitability goals.

Assure building structural integrity and safety of own work and the work of other designers by checking their work.

Sign, seal, and date drawings, specifications, reports, or other documents that correspond to the metal building portion of projects prepared under the sealing engineer’s immediate personal supervision.

Embrace a growth mindset and develop advanced product, procedure, and technical knowledge.

Ensure customer design service needs are met by adhering to design schedules.

Collaborate with project teams to discuss problems and challenges, then help create and implement cost‑effective, efficient solutions.

Provide technical assistance to customers on specific projects.

Mentor design engineers by providing technical guidance, feedback on design checks, and direction on internal design procedures and systems/tools.

Qualifications

Experience level: Experienced, minimum 5 years of experience in structural engineering.

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (required).

PE license.

Experience with pre‑engineered metal buildings (P.E.M.B) and steel building systems.

Skills

Structural design, Steel design, Structural steel, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Project management, Structural analysis.

Experience with box culverts, pre‑engineered metal buildings, professional engineer recognition.
