Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill a Quality Engineer job for our direct client, a growing manufacturer of access entry technology located in the Indianapolis, IN area. In this role, you will support and improve internal manufacturing processes by driving quality assurance initiatives, leading root cause analysis efforts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve quality and productivity targets. This position reports directly to the Site Quality Manager and offers the opportunity to make a strong impact in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Quality Engineer Job Responsibilities
Solve or direct efforts to resolve complex product quality and process-related issues. Serve as the voice of the customer throughout new product development projects. Recommend internal or vendor design, manufacturing, and quality control changes to improve quality and reliability. Gather and analyze product and process data to identify and report improvement opportunities. Develop and apply quality analysis tools for root cause analysis and corrective action. Collaborate with external suppliers, operations, design, marketing, and customer care teams. Develop and maintain quality documentation, including process maps, PFMEAs, control plans, and SOPs. Support end-user troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts as needed. Act as subject matter expert and internal auditor for ISO 9001-based quality systems. Interface regularly with on-site and remote engineering functions. Provide limited supervisory support as project requirements dictate. Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field. 5–8 years of progressively responsible experience in Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance, or Supplier Quality Management. Minimum of 2 years of hands‑on, in‑plant manufacturing experience. Proven expertise with process improvement tools such as APQP, Lean, Six Sigma, PPAP, 8D, FMEA, and VAVE. Proficiency using standard measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, scales, height gauges, etc.). ISO‑9001, TS‑16949, or AS9100 lead auditor experience. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and statistical analysis software. Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate effectively within a matrix organization. Active knowledge of manufacturing, assembly, and distribution processes. Fluency in English (spoken and written); bilingual candidates are strongly.
