We are a well-established
civil construction contractor
in the DFW area seeking an experienced
Senior Civil Estimator
to join our growing team. This is a critical role responsible for managing bid preparation and cost estimating for civil projects. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of civil scopes, and a proven ability to produce competitive and accurate estimates.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare complete and detailed cost estimates for public and private sector civil projects (earthwork, utilities, paving, grading, drainage, etc.)
Review bid packages, drawings, and specifications to identify project scope, risks, and requirements
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing; maintain relationships with vendors and trade partners
Collaborate with project managers and field staff to ensure alignment between preconstruction and execution
Attend pre-bid meetings, perform site visits, and assess job site conditions as needed
Provide support for junior estimators as needed
Prepare quantity takeoffs using software tools (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, or similar)
Build budgets, schedules, and phasing plans as part of proposal packages
Support project handoffs and provide guidance to field teams after award
Monitor market trends and pricing changes to ensure competitiveness
Contribute to refining internal estimating systems and databases
Qualifications
4+ years of estimating experience
at a
civil contractor
Strong knowledge of civil construction methods and materials
Experience bidding DOT, municipal, and private site development projects
Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software (e.g., HCSS, AGTEK, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar)
Strong math, critical thinking, and communication skills
Detail‑oriented and able to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary:
$105,000 – $135,000/year depending on experience
