Mechanical Engineer – Design

Overview Our client, a leading manufacturer in Morristown, TN, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with strong design expertise to support the development of high-quality, custom-engineered products. This role offers a high degree of autonomy, opportunities to contribute to new product innovations, and direct collaboration with senior leadership, manufacturing teams, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with sales, manufacturing, and project management teams to translate customer requirements into accurate product designs.
Work alongside mechanical designers to select components, create 3D models, and maintain updated design documentation.
Create and modify detailed designs in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
Select appropriate components and prepare accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Perform engineering calculations for tanks, pressure piping, and related components.
Coordinate with vendors to source new materials and cost-effective design solutions.
Conduct product inspections during various stages of manufacturing to ensure design specifications are met.
Maintain compliance with quality control standards, including ASME requirements.
Support continuous improvement efforts to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
Act as a subject matter expert for mechanical design questions and provide technical support to internal teams and customers.
Update and maintain internal engineering procedures and training documentation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in equipment design, preferably for capital or industrial systems.
Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D modeling; AutoCAD experience preferred.
Familiarity with ASME codes is a plus.
Knowledge of PDM/PLM software; experience with Codeware Compress is an advantage.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
