Job Description Laboratory Technician I – entry level position with benefits, Monday‑Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Brief weekend work will be required approximately one weekend per month on a rotating schedule. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Danvers, MA are encouraged to apply. Compensation $20–22 per hour (depends on experience).
Responsibilities Sample Receiving
Prepare samples from processing
Accept and sign for deliveries
Assist in unloading shipments from delivery truck
Open coolers and inspect contents of shipments; check documentation to ensure all samples are accounted for
Distribute samples in different departments as appropriate
Follow strict safety and quality control procedures
Store, restock, and shelve samples as necessary
Ensure the work area is clean and organized
Enter records in LIMS system
Demonstrate and promote the company vision
Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
Apply GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility, as appropriate
Perform routine lab tasks that provide experience and familiarization with methods, practices, and programs, including:
Retrieve samples from Sample Control for analysis
Prepare samples using standard techniques
Perform chemical analysis using standard techniques
Calculate data
Record and report data and any unusual test occurrences to the supervisor
Perform routine instrument maintenance
Perform job functions in compliance with Eurofins environmental health, safety, and quality assurance standards
Perform general housekeeping in the work area
Become trained and competent on complex instrumentation (e.g., gas chromatography, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, atomic absorption, ICP, and instrument‑specific data systems)
Work under close supervision using routine and standard methods
Aliquot and weigh samples
Wash glassware
Lab Technician
Perform microbiology analysis by Idexx methods, which may include, but is not limited to:
Handling and processing samples following aseptic procedures
Preparing reagents and media
Preparing dilutions
Recording and tracking incubation times
Resolve discrepancies and anomalies to ensure samples are properly labeled
Prepare general laboratory paperwork such as recording analysis results, tracking samples, bench sheets, and laboratory logbooks
Wash laboratory glassware to prepare for the next day’s samples
Stock laboratory supplies
Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner
Perform other duties as assigned
Clean work area(s) to maintain a safe working environment
Assist other laboratory areas as needed
Qualifications Basic Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrates strong organizational skills
Pays close attention to detail
Possesses physical strength necessary to lift and move heavy boxes received by the lab
Exhibits ability to use LIMS software competently
Reading, writing and speaking skills
Problem‑solving skills
Team participation and meeting management skills
Time‑management and organization skills
Use calculator/mathematical formulas and concepts
Complete work within time and quality constraints
Work independently following written or verbal instructions
Cooperate and coordinate both orally and in writing
Education / Experience
High School Diploma required
High school Chemistry coursework, basic laboratory experience
Previous production‑oriented work (awareness and ability to meet deadlines)
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; samples will be in coolers packed in ice
Perform other duties as assigned
