Associate Landscape Architect II (Project Manager)

Day to Day In this role, you will design a variety of sustainable transportation and non‑motorized recreation projects. Your responsibilities include establishing design direction, reviewing working drawings, and managing projects of varying scales. You will produce high‑quality, accurate design documents, reports, and analyses. For streetscape, urban design, trail design, and other placemaking projects, you will lead the development of cost estimates and construction details. Facilitating public engagement, communicating graphically, and utilizing CAD and rendering software are also expected. Associates may contribute to business development and marketing operations and will be expected to manage project delivery to success.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field.
10 or more years of experience in a consulting or public sector environment; including at least three years as a Project Manager and three years managing staff.
Experience in active, non‑motorized transportation.
Demonstrated understanding of street and trail design principles and general project management principles.
In‑depth knowledge of NACTO, MUTCD, ADA, and relevant DOT design requirements.
In‑depth knowledge of site grading principles and construction techniques.
Ability to create photo‑renderings, concept sketches, construction drawings, and other deliverables for proposals and projects.
Ability to read, understand, and utilize technical drawings, maps, and documents.
Ability to guide staff and manage internal team expectations.
Strong initiative and ability to enhance Alta’s position in the marketplace.
Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple simultaneous projects involving cross‑functional teams within budgetary and schedule constraints.
Willingness to travel.
Excellent professional ethics, leadership, accountability, and decision‑making skills.
Good presentation skills.
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, or similar products.
Proficiency in an enterprise‑wide resource planning and project management tool.
Additional beneficial skills and experience include:
Creative expression across formats (concept diagrams, sketches, renderings, animations).
Experience managing design production teams.
Experience managing large projects for private and public clients.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Civil 3D, Photoshop, ArcGIS, SketchUp, Google Earth GIS, or similar.
Experience using Deltek Vision.
Active participation in professional associations and committees.
Licensure – PLA.
ASLA certification.

Compensation:
Annual salary range for this position in Atlanta is $90,000–$119,000, based on experience, skill set, and qualifications.
