Job Description Knobelsdorff is seeking a Medium Voltage (MV) Electrical Lead with a strong utility or electrical distribution background to provide technical leadership and mentoring. This individual will serve as a subject matter expert in medium voltage design, installation, and commissioning, supporting our utility, industrial, and infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in MV systems (5 kV–35 kV) including underground distribution, substation interfaces, and electrical system design, and will be able to guide crews and junior engineers both in the field and during design reviews. While this role is not field‑based full time, it requires occasional site visits and strong collaboration with operations, engineering, and pre‑construction teams.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the technical lead for MV electrical scope across multiple projects.

Review and guide the design of medium voltage systems including:

Duct banks, riser poles, vaults, cable routing, sizing and terminations, and grounding

Specification and selection of transformers, switchgear, MV apparatus (reclosers, GOAB, etc.), protection and control equipment, and MV Metering.

Mentor and develop field supervisors, foremen, and junior engineers.

Act as a liaison between engineering and field teams—ensuring constructability, code compliance, and clarity.

Collaborate with pre‑construction and estimating to review drawings and support bid strategy.

Participate in design reviews, equipment submittals, and utility coordination meetings.

Maintain high standards of electrical safety, code compliance (NEC/NESC), and industry best practices.

Support QA/QC, installation inspections, and occasional field commissioning activities.

Provide technical training to internal staff around MV best practices and lessons learned.
