We’re growing and looking for a Structural Engineer who can blend technical expertise with practical construction knowledge to help us take our designs to the next level.
Position Overview The Structural Engineer will be responsible for the structural design, analysis, and approval of outdoor living structures including pergolas, patio roofs, decks, retaining walls, and related residential outdoor projects. You’ll work closely with our design and construction teams to ensure each project meets applicable codes, withstands Florida’s environmental conditions, and aligns with OOL’s quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design and analyze structural systems for outdoor living projects (timber, steel, masonry, concrete, and hybrid systems).
Prepare calculations, drawings, and documentation for permitting and construction.
Collaborate with designers, project managers, and contractors to refine designs for constructability and cost-efficiency.
Review architectural and civil drawings to ensure structural compatibility.
Perform site visits for inspections, troubleshooting, and structural assessments as needed.
Ensure compliance with Florida Building Code, wind load requirements, and local ordinances.
Coordinate with clients, permitting officials, and third-party engineers when necessary.
Maintain detailed records of engineering reports and design modifications.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s).
Licensure:
Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Experience:
Minimum 3–5 years of structural design experience in residential or light commercial construction.
Proficiency in structural analysis and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, RISA, or similar).
Strong knowledge of Florida Building Code, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, and NDS standards.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
