In this role, you'll support the evaluation of various turbomachinery subsystems, including fans and compressors. The Aerothermal capability covers gas path aerodynamics, thermodynamics and installations and relies on skills in Computational Fluid Dynamics at a range of levels of fidelity and testing capability in a range of TRL rigs. Design and capability generation relies also on a knowledge and understanding of the interaction of these components both locally and at an engine level.

Responsibilities
Design, analyze, and simulate various gas turbine system components and sub-systems using methodologies including meanline, throughflow, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
Work with performance organization and system level design to define, understand, and interpret sub-system requirements and issue sub-system performance maps and bids.
Collaborate with aeromechanics, heat transfer, and mechanical design teams to understand interfaces with aerodynamic design.
Plan, execute, and oversee component and sub-system "rig" tests for product development and/or technology development.
Assemble, interpret, and report CFD simulations, experimental results, and first-principles analyses into a cohesive understanding of component and sub-system capabilities versus requirements.
Support the wider aerodynamics disciplines with capability acquisition via methods and coding, technology plans, and community of practice engagement.
Practice continuous improvement by updating best practices, automating processes, and reducing waste.
Support presentations and trainings on anticorruption and broader ethics and legal compliance topics.
Assist with responses to government investigations or queries as appropriate and/or required.
Collaborate with other business functions and diverse experience levels, communicating effectively.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physics or Math with 2+ years of experience in Thermodynamics or Aerodynamics, OR
Master's of Science or PhD in Engineering, Physics or Math
US citizen required
Preferred Requirements:
Proficient with aerodynamics, turbomachinery, airfoil design, and CFD.
Well versed in gas turbine engine architecture, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
Good communication skills with the ability to convey concepts with appropriate technical depth.
Collaborative, multidisciplinary team player.
Ability to manage time between independent priorities.
